Tazmoe Music was founded by music industry veteran Kevin Sutter at the start of January 2000. Mr Sutter has over 38 years of music business experience at a variety of different levels, starting out in 1976 when he joined CBS Records Distribution as Inventory Clerk with the NY Branch of CBS Records. In July of 1978 he was promoted to the position of Local Promotion Manager for Epic Records based in Buffalo NY. He was responsible for promoting Epic Record’s Artists to multiple radio formats like Top 40 Album Radio AC Country and R&B stations all across upstate NY.
In 1982 he was hired by IRS Records where he became their first East Coast Director of Sales based in NYC which allowed him in his new role to help break the company’s many newly signed artists at retail. Artists like The Go Gos, REM, The English Beat, and many others. In 1984 Chrysalis Records hired Kevin to run their Album Radio Department which also covered alternative and college radio. Working with Daniel Glass, VP of Promotion for Chrysalis, Kevin was responsible for the Album Radio airplay on such artists as Jethro Tull, Billy Idol, Huey Lewis, Pat Benatar, The Waterboys, World Party, Sinead O’Connor and many more.
He went on to head up RCA Records Album radio department from 1989 to 1991 Then Atlantic Records hired him to be part of their management team to launch their new label East West Records.
He left East West in 1992 to help launch M3 Music Marketing with Jim McKeon in February 1992, where he stayed till Jim McKeon closed the Seattle-based company at the end of 1999 in order to pursue radio station ownership. It was then that he chose to start Tazmoe Music in January of 2000.
